Townsville Choral Society joins with Townsville’s wider arts community in mourning the loss this week of Reverend Norton Challenor.

Norton was blessed with a magnificent bass voice, and there would be few folk in Townsville who would not have had the pleasure of listening to him sing, whether it be in church, with Townsville’s Oratorio Choir, variety concerts, a multitude of musical theatre performances and indeed for many years a soloist at Anzac Day services.

He was a great supporter of the arts, including the Australian Vocal and Concerto competition.

Norton was also the Mission to Seafarers Chaplain here in Townsville.

Our deepest sympathies are extended to his family.

Norton’s life will be celebrated at his funeral service at St James Cathedral at 10am on Monday 6th January 2020.
