Health Alert - Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Townsville Choral Society is following advice from the Australian Government Department of

Health and Queensland Health, which are both updating information regularly on their websites.

We understand that this is a worrying time for many in our community. We want to assure our members and volunteers and the broader community that we’re monitoring the situation as it evolves so that we can act on recommendations when needed.

We will continue to provide updates to our members as new information becomes available.

Information and Resources

This information sheet tells you what you need to know about coronavirus (COVID-19) — what it is, how it spreads, who is most at risk, and what you can do to help stop it spreading.

How can we help prevent the spread of coronavirus?

Practising good hand hygiene and sneeze/cough hygiene is the best defence against most viruses:

  • washing hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitiser, before and after eating, and after going to the toilet

  • covering your nose and mouth with a tissue or flexed elbow when coughing or sneezing and disposing of tissues into a closed bin

  • Staying home if unwell and avoiding contact with others (touching, kissing, hugging, and other intimate contact).

  • While coronavirus is of concern, it is important to remember that most people displaying symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat or tiredness are likely suffering with a cold or other respiratory illness.
