Vale Ron Hamilton

Updated: Jan 16, 2020

We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our friend, mentor and life member - the delightfully witty Ron Hamilton.

A genius with the pen, Ron was the mastermind of so many of our theatre restaurants. He saw the humour in the every day, from pigeons in the mall, to weary husbands following their wives around the supermarket. Nothing was sacred, from politicians to local developments. To this day, many of us still can’t sing the right words to a song. He always had a notebook and several pens in his pocket, and would write scripts on the fly.

It was a privilege to be directed by him. None of us will ever forget his mantra - enunciate, project and enjoy. Ron was also a published playwright and as well as local productions, was proud to have had a play produced off off Broadway.

He sang with the TCS eisteddfod choir and the Choral Aires, served on our management committee and appeared on stage in many of our musicals.

He was involved with many other theatrical organisations, including the original Stage Door Theatre restaurant and Friends of the Theatre.

A life generously well lived.

Our deepest sympathies are extended to Jean, Tiffany and Warwick.

Vale Ron. We hope the angels aren’t messing with your hair.
