Vale Jack O'Connor

This week we mourn the passing of our friend and life member Jack O’Connor.

Jack joined the Society in 1965 and his velvet bass voice soon saw him featuring in lead roles in many musicals. He had many successes at eisteddfodau in solos, duets, trios and quartettes and was a much valued member of the choir bass line. His comedic timing was a a highlight of our theatre restaurants.

Jack served on the management committee from 1972 to 1985. He was the music librarian from 1985 to 1994 and served as President of the Society from 1995 to 1997.

In 1974 he married then pianist and later musical director Berneice Farrell. Together they were a perfect match.

Jack was made a life member of Townsville Choral Society in 1983.

He is survived by Berneice, son Jamie and daughter Gabrielle and their families.

Vale Jack
